Nutrition Counseling

As a trained mental health clinician and registered dietitian nutritionist, I know how hard it can be to make a lifestyle change on your own. Whether it's finding the right routine for you, or feeling comfortable trying a new meal, challenges are easier to undertake when you have a partner to work through the details with.

As your dietitian, I hope to partner with you and your treatment team to create an individualized plan that fits into your life. Through this process, I’ll assist you by creating plans that are manageable despite the difficulties, and structured, but still flexible enough to respond to unexpected obstacles.

Since 2012 I have worked as a registered dietitian nutritionist. Prior to my Seattle practice, I operated a private practice in New York City for people living with eating disorders, and chronic medical conditions. I was also previously the Nutrition Team Leader at Balance Eating Disorder Treatment Center where I helped to develop and oversee the nutrition programs including the Intensive Outpatient Program, Saturday Program, Intensive Day Time Program, Adolescent Outpatient Program, Men's Group, and Meal Support Groups.

Services

Nutrition Counseling

Individual nutrition counseling is available at my office, or by video. Plans can be customized to be based on intuitive, mindful eating, food exchanges, and/or structured meal plans. I approach nutrition counseling from a non-diet, Intuitive Eating, multicultural, and Health at Every Size philosophy and rooted in nutrition science.

  • In-Person Nutrition Counseling

    • 1-on-1 nutrition counseling conducted at my office. This may include meal or food situation planning, cooking or recipe support, meal support, practice with portioning, and/or nutrition education.

  • Supporters, Partners, and Family Nutrition Counseling

    • A patient’s support system can be an invaluable asset in their work toward achieving their nutrition goals. After the patient and I establish a clear agenda, we’ll invite loved ones and other advocates into sessions to learn what actions they can take to best support the patient. These sessions are not mean to turn anyone into the “food police”, rather they are meant to create a shared understanding of the patient’s needs, establish healthy boundaries, and decrease tension around food.

  • Virtual Nutrition Counseling

    • 1-on-1 nutrition counseling conducted via video software. This may include meal or food situation planning, cooking or recipe support, meal support, practice with portioning, and/or nutrition education.

  • Meal Support aka Food Exposures

    • Meal support provides an opportunity to develop flexibility, and normalize food in real world situations. Some individuals choose to have meals in my office to try fear foods, while others have chosen to learn how to portion meals at a restaurant. Whatever your goals are, we can create an individualized plan to meet the demands of your life.
